Residents of eastern suburbs were woken up by irony onControl Valves
Tuesday morning. Though it was pouring outside, there was no water in their homes as a 36-inch valve connected to the water pipeline malfunctioned, disrupting supply to Bhandup, Kanjur Marg, Vikhroli and Nahur.

“Absolutely no supply since morning has worsened our condition,” Sasane added.
Refuting claims of water contamination, Despande blamed the problem on monsoon. “We have Bellow Seal Valves
monitored the problem. Consistent rainfall might have led to some grime mixing with the water, but the supply is devoid of any contamination,” he said.
Post office with no water
The only solace for eastern suburbs residents is perhaps that their western counterparts are also facing similar problems. In a curious case, the post office at Marol Naka in Andheri (E) has had no water supplyInstrument Valves
since April.
Its woes began after Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) undertook road widening and concretisation project in the area.
MMRDA had also laid down new PVC pipelines on the either side of the road.
“The supply was consistent initially, but ever since MMRDA redeveloped the water pipelines underneath the roads, we haven’t received a single drop,” said an official in the post office. The post office is getting water from tankers supplied by the civic body.
